Michael Mayer, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist and certified hypnotherapist who has been in private practice in Contra Costa County for two decades, trained therapists here for twelve years at JFK University, and co-founded and served as a practitioner at a multidisciplinary integrative healthcare clinic in Lafayette. Dr Mayer is now in private practice in Lafayette, and specializes in self-healing methods for mental and physical health problems. He enjoys creating integrated health-care teams with other Contra Costa health professionals to provide his patients with a holistic, integrated treatment plan.

Dr. Mayer is author of twenty publications on body-mind healing, including the book Bodymind Healing Psychotherapy, which has been acclaimed by leaders in the field of mind-body healthcare. He also enjoys working with couples as seen in his book Trials of the Heart: Healing the Wounds of Intimacy, and he presents at professional conferences on the integration of Western mind-body healing approaches with Eastern relaxation and meditation methods.
